Welcome aboard our 31-foot sport fishing charter boat, Lake Michigan’s very popular charter fishing service serving the Chicagoland and Waukegan areas for over 30 years. My Freedom-Charter fishing vessel is available seven days per week.

My name is Captain James Engel. I am a U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain. I have fished Lake Michigan from Chicago, Illinois to Racine, Wisconsin. Fishing just does not get any better than this! It is my goal to ensure that my charter customers have the best possible opportunities to catch a lot of fish and I will give you 100% on every trip! Lake Michigan in Chicago and Waukegan, with their underwater reefs, are so productive on a day-by-day basis that it gives my customers the best chance to catch the most fish.

Whether you are an avid angler or have never fished before, with a trip on the Freedom Charter Fishing boat, no experience is necessary. What a great way to create memories that will last a lifetime!

While on board the Lake Michigan Charter fishing boat, Freedom, you can run 7 to 15 lines in the water at a time. If we do not put the lines in the water, you cannot catch any fish! You will have the opportunity to catch Coho Salmon, Chinook (King) Salmon, Rainbow Trout (steelhead), Brown Trout, and Lake Trout.

Captain James, with his 30+ years of experience, knows the most important factors for a most successful fishing trip.

Every Year more Records are Broken as Fish Continually grow larger. Most fish average between 5 and 12 pounds, But 20 Pounders are not Uncommon. Many fish taken this year will go well over 30 Pounds.
